Before signing up for Art Therapy (Group or Individual) you need to book an Initial Consultation.
This is an important meeting where you get to come and check out the Art Therapy Studio and meet the Art Therapist, Karl Raams.
An Initial Consultation provides an opportunity to discuss what you are looking to explore during Art Therapy. It gives you space to ask any questions about the Art Therapy process. We also cover the client agreement, limited confidentiality, and other required documents.
What is Art Therapy
Art Therapy is a type of counselling that uses the process of art-making to help people explore and work on their mental health and well-being.
The participant requires no artistic skill, as it is not an art class or a lesson. Unlike lessons or classes where the focus is on what you make, the Art Therapist focuses on the participant and the choices they make during art-making.

The art-making process becomes an exploration, a discovery, of what we bring to the session through a different lens. Our grief, depression, relationships, anxiety, health, struggles, or anything else that we need to explore.

When you go to a counsellor, receiving an external perspective is part of creating the therapeutic experience.
Art Therapists use art-making to help give participants another way to get an external perspective of what they are exploring.
